Before you decide to complain about something I have posted here, please allow me the opportunity to clarify some points:
Irreverence, not disrespect.
I consider irreverence and dissent, when it’s not compulsive, a very healthy practice to cultivate. The right to question, to not take things for granted, to “withhold consent” from the mainstream keeps us sharp, and in constant development, hopefully forward.
On the other hand, I do try not to be disrespectful to anybody. So, for example, while I don’t think a single person is dumb for having a particular set of beliefs, I also have the right to opine that a certain belief is not very intelligent.
The former case is an insult, the latter, a personal conviction to which I am entitled, as much as you are entitled to disagree with it. And yes, I consider certain people very intelligent and, at the same time, feel their belief system is based on dumb premises.
Strange paradox, sure, but not less true. Both things are not incompatible. Who knows, maybe I’m one of those myself :) In any case, a healthy dose of not making too many assumptions, or taking too many at face value, of questioning and second-guessing “truths” is something I like to practice regularly, you’ll see plenty of it here. Please try not to take offense, it really isn’t personal.
My Photography Sucks.
It does, I’m not a photographer. Trash it all you want, I understand. The funny thing is that I went to film school and as an art director I’ve had to direct many photo-shoots. I’m a designer by trade, can draw decently and they say I’m quite good at composition but for some reason, handling my own photography is not a strength I posses. What I shoot and show here is mainly for documentary reasons, to capture a moment in time or my personal history, sometimes for inspiration or research but this is usually for work. In any event, I want to lay it out there that most of my pictures are going to blow, period, if you are looking for award-winning photography in a blog, then this is definitely not the end of your journey.
I am not Spain.
Indeed, although I AM A GUY from Spain I am certainly NOT THE GUY from Spain. If you know people from my beautiful country you’ll see (and/or they’ll tell you) that if there is such a thing as the typical Spaniard, then I’m definitely not it. I’m just a guy venting on a blog like many others, the title is a reference to a stupid running joke (read more in the FAQ section appropriately labeled “¿Qué?”).
The bottom line is that although I love my country dearly, I am quite comfortable with, very proud and extremely respectful of its diversity and uniqueness.
I owe it much but I am not it.
I am not in possession of the truth.
I am not here to tell you how it is or how it went down. I have an opinion, that’s for sure, but most of it is just that, an opinion. For the most part, I’m going to try to document stuff when possible and give credit or provide reference to the source(s) in question. But I’m not going to kill myself over it if it doesn’t involve a life or death situation.
I’m not in it for the money.
You won’t see an ad on this blog, I am not here to monetize social media or engagetize strategory on the blogoshpere. I don’t give a rats ass, I have other sources of making a living and if I’m desperate for money, I will pump gas or rake people’s lawns before kidding myself about how I am going to become the next TV preacher on the interwebz. I do work on digital stuff and I spend quite a lot of time online. This blog may serve, at times, as a gauge for me to understand how humans interact with machines but, other than this very indirect repercussion in my professional life, there is no other tie between the way I make my living and this electronic log.
This is just a blog
Finally, this blog is mainly about humor, and commenting or finding interesting thoughts and facts. I feel very honored and proud that you should be reading this far and if you want to leave a comment or two, share a link or communicate otherwise, you are more than welcome to do so. Thanks for stopping by.
