Capella Alliance iPad App

Working for the UX team at Capella University, I was asked to lead the design of an app for their Alliances Sales force. The main goal for the project was to build a digital sales tool that the reps could either carry on a digital tablet to handle on personal pitches, or use from a desktop computer while calling remotely via webex. I first held a series of very enlightening discovery interviews with some of the subject matter experts, which I followed with a few sessions of shadowing sales force personnel during their normal work day, in order to lobtain a better understanding of their work needs and limitations. This led to the development of a series of task-lists and schematics which helped the team define scope, and provide direction for the interaction design of the final product.

  • I hired Alfonso as a consultant to come in and work on some complex data visualizations. There was no design precedent set prior to his involvement and the data was very complex. Alfonso created the groundwork and initial concepts that grew into a student dashboard that was eventually featured in the New York Times to explain the concept of incorporating transparent competencies into a degree plan.
