The Late Night Book is a popular iPad app currently in the App Store. It’s a soothing night pre-bed ritual that helps strengthen the comprehension skills of children in the early stages of reading. A version in Spanish and another one for Android phones are currently in the making. Project Tiki, a west coast marketing firm, commissioned me to design the experience around this story written by Jim O’Loughlin. After my initial research I developed a set of engaging interaction patterns with fun motion dynamics that would appeal to young audiences in that age group. I also designed the visual and brand language around the product, the application interface, and main sales site. I’ve included here some of the videos we took during our initial prototype testing (immediately below) and another one submitted by a user one year after the first version launched, which showcase the engagement level we achieved with our young end-users.
