My name is Alfonso Moreno and I’m an experience designer with over 18 years of proven success in the digital space.

As a team builder, I’ve helped both fortune 500s as well as start-ups grow and adapt to the ever-changing landscape of the information era. I’ve lead teams to success for names like Target, Best Buy, Fingerhut, Accu-Chek or MoneyGram.

This managerial skill set is not, however, a single career path for me. I continue my work as a designer because skill and craft are both important always. And remaining fresh and on top of change is essential in such a rapidly evolving environment. In this capacity I’ve lent my services to Capella University, US Bank, Best Buy and Target (again), Martin Williams Advertising, StoneArch Creative, and a number of start-ups or small business ventures, both in the States as well as abroad, distributed between the technology, the healthcare or the retail market.


My specialties are digital experience and interaction design, with a strong background in creative and graphic communication, topped with a side of data visualization and information architecture.

I’m proficient in Lean UX, Agile, Waterfall and, of course, Agile-fall. Comfortable both iterating in quick scrums or selling ideas up the ladder of traditional approval layers.

First Generation Digital Designer

Originally from Madrid, Spain, I moved to Minneapolis 16 years ago and have since been living and working in the US. Unlike many colleagues from my generation, who migrated from traditional to electronic media, my focus has always been interactive, the communication model that does not follow a linear sequence.

And this focus on non-sequential story-telling goes back to my film school days at the Complutense University of Madrid. I produced my first interactive storyboard in 1990, started designing for “multi-media” in 93 and learned HTML in 96. I’ve championed adaptive, device-agnostic and user-centered design for the interactive space since those concepts where only taken seriously in the tech engineering field.

My diverse background also includes brand experience and motion design. Spain has a very strong design community but the industry is so much smaller than that of the States, it forces you to have to wear many hats in order to get stuff done. Both this and my multicultural upbringing (I was raised in Munich, where I learned English, which I speak since I was five) have furnished me with a renaissance mind that is very useful in this field.  I adapt fast and keep an open vision, which in turn keeps me current with this industry of constant change.
